Wedding season doesn’t mean just being a guest. If in a bridal party, there are other kinds of events you need to attend. I’ve already attended two this summer and needless to say I’ve had to get a little creative with the outfits. Today I’m talking about different styling tips to make the same piece of clothing not seem so much like a repeat:
Wear your hair differently
For the looks I styled, I wore one with my hair in a high bun and the other with it down
Choose different accessories
Different jewelry, shoes and handbags can make all the difference
Switch up your makeup
A bold lip can refresh your re-worn piece
Style the piece in a different way
For the top I styled I switched the tie in front to the back, and bunched up the long sleeves to be faux short sleeves
Style it with a different pairing
All too often I see repeated outfits with the same top/bottom combo. Switch up your combos by pairing the piece with a different style top or bottom. For my look I paired the top with a mini skirt and then a midi skirt. I can’t wait to style the top with a wide leg pant, too!
Rompers – some people love them, some people not so much. For those of you that love them, rompers can be a great piece to invest in if you don’t want to spend the time combining different pieces to create an outfit. If you’re one of those people who have multiple rompers in your closet, a romper with a bright floral print is a great pick for summer. I love this romper from local boutique Jolie Ocassions because its base is a beautiful yellow that is bright for summer but can easily transition into fall. The floral print adds a playfulness to it and the bell sleeves seal the deal. I styled the romper with a pair of printed pumps [because we all know how much I love print mixing]. What romper styles do you have in your closet?
For all of you wondering – yes, crop tops are still in. You may have thought they have been replaced by the trending bodysuit, but crop tops [at least in my opinion] are still a great piece to keep in your wardrobe. I love this crop top from AE [now only $15!] because of the ribbed texture [keeps it more formal], the off the shoulder style, and especially the tie detail with the open back.
Dresses aren’t something I own a lot of – so when I purchase one I make sure it’s pretty versatile. A midi tank dress is perfect for summer because you can dress it up or down. You can also layer it with a blouse to act as a faux midi skirt for the office. I’m excited to wear this dress through the rest of summer and well into fall.
I styled this midi tank dress from local boutique Vernacular with my favorite basket weave purse [worn as a clutch], bright flats and eclectic jewelry.
·Keep your shoe simple with a loafer, sleek flat or low-heel pump
·A low bun looks great on almost everyone, and makes any look more polished
·Stud earrings and a watch are all you need to dress it up
For my athleisure work place look, I styled two amazing pieces from a brand I discovered called VAEWARD. The top is a muscle tee style with soft knit fabric and the track pants have a waffle knit pattern and are also super soft. The black piping on the pieces ties them together. Black loafers and simple jewelry complete the look.
Today I’m bringing some outfit inspo for all those date nights coming up. Sometimes date nights are great – you get dressed up, you do your hair, you feel fly. Other times, date nights consist of more casual attire where you don’t have to get so dolled up. No matter how fancy or casual your date night is, there is always one piece that can turn up the heat for any outfit. Whether it’s a fitted dress or jeans and a top, the item any date night outfit needs is a great jewelry piece (or pieces). Earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces – all jewelry styles can instantly dress up your look.
I came across the site Juwelo and fell in love with their jewelry selection. The detail and craft work around their gemstone jewelry colors, sizes and shapes makes you feel like you’re dripping in luxury no matter your price point.
For my date night outfit, I styled a leather mini skirt with a crop top and sandals. I put my hair up in a sultry ponytail which is perfect for those humid summer nights. The pair of earrings I’m wearing polished off the dressy feel I was going for.
It’s been a pretty amazing summer so far. Even though it’s not my favorite season of apparel, it’s a great time to wear and combine bright, bold colors. For all of the minimalists out there – I get it – you can never go wrong with classic black and white, gray, or even a subtle blush. Whether you have a minimalist style or not, summer is a great time to play around with adding color to your outfits. Wether it’s a bright pink earring with an all black look, or a combination of reds, yellows and teals, you won’t need to worry about being out of your comfort zone because there’s already color everywhere.
I was inspired by this post from an outfit I wore a few weeks back during pride weekend. I was so inspired by all the color and love that I combined some items/colors in my closet that I never would have thought to put together otherwise. I styled a pair of white shorts with a red top, yellow tassel earrings and teal slides.
I’m really excited to share this post with you because it is all things bridal. I’ve styled quite a few things in my life but this was my first stab at styling bridal looks. I had the opportunity to partner with David’s Bridal and if you’re in or near the Columbus, Ohio area I highly suggest stopping by their new store at Easton Town Center – it is stunning. When you walk into the store, it has a calm, inviting feel with a boutique design. The wedding dress selection isn’t overwhelming which I thought was very refreshing. The special occasion and bridesmaid dress sections also have awesome variety. I have a few more weddings to attend this year and let’s just say I’ll be stopping by again for some nice dresses and accessories.
Now, on to the good stuff.
I’ve always had an infatuation with bridal dresses because of the attention to detail you see in every design, so I was a kid in a candy store picking out some of these beauties to style. What I loved most about the selection was that a lot of the dresses looked like a million bucks but were at a great price. Check out the dresses I styled below to see how fabulous you can look on a budget.
Look 1 – Boho chic bride
A trend that has been booming this year and will make it’s way to next year is bridal separates. I love the idea of a two-piece set. Whether the set is a top and skirt or top and pants – you’re bound to look amazing in it and it’s crazy comfortable.
I styled the sequined separates by accessorizing with boho details. A head piece, chic sandals and a bold lip complete this look.
The best part about it? I actually pulled this set from the special occasion section. When shopping for wedding dresses, don’t feel confined to only the bridal area, sometimes there are awesome dresses in the special occasion or bridesmaid sections.
Colored dresses have always been around, but we’re seeing a major comeback of the style this year. Light greens, blushes, silvers, golds and the now trending light blue – adding color to your day is nothing shy of fabulous.
I styled this beautiful embellished blush gown with a veil, delicate bracelet and gold sandals. The dress and veil are so bold and beautiful alone, I opted for no earrings, necklace or belt.
The next colored dress I styled was a beautiful WHITE Vera Wang sterling gown. Big ball gowns are making a comeback in 2018, so we had to throw this one in the mix. My photographer suggested adding the mini veil which ended up really tying the look together. I added Pearl earrings to keep it classic and a bright orange lip for a twist.
Summer is always a tricky season for me because the layering options aren’t the best. You pretty much have your tops, bottoms and dresses. Sure, you can layer tanks etc., but when it starts to get really hot out your options become scarce. I typically don’t invest too much in my summer wardrobe, but each summer I add a few new pieces and turn to retailers that have cute clothes for a good price. What can you get for under $100? Well, I’ll tell you:
Don’t only purchase rompers or dresses – separates are always more versatile and you can mix and match them with items you already own.
Lightweight fabric shorts – they’re comfortable and keep you cool
Lightweight fabric tee – something you can dress up or down
Go-to summer dress – wrap dresses are my favorite style because they flatter pretty much every body type.
Go-to accessory – add a new jewelry piece or purse to your wardrobe to wear on rotation frequently.
I chose a few pieces from Abercrombie & Fitch for my wardrobe refresh because their sales are on point. I was able to get shorts, a tee, dress and bracelet all for under $100.
