As the days get warmer, the options for outfit combinations becomes scarce. Luckily, the ability to layer isn’t only for the colder months. A sleeveless shirt dress is the perfect style to invest in this season because it can be worn so many ways. I’ve styled it as a vest over a white cami dress. The dress allows the outfit to be work appropriate all while adding some interest from the not-so-work-friendly dress under. Styling it with bright shoes and a scarf as a belt completed the look.
Word on the streets is that Zara is opening up a store in Columbus. I don’t shop at Zara often just because the sizing is inconsistent; however, now that I’ll be able to try things on let’s see how much more of the brand I’ll be adding to my closet [sorry in advance, wallet].
When I was in New York for fashion week we went to Zara one day. I typically don’t buy anything unless I get that “Oh my that’s beautiful, unique and I can spend some money and get use out of that thing” feeling. I stumbled upon this Zara illusion wrap skirt that is so perfect and versatile. The length is appropriate for the office and the cut and fabric allow it to be styled for a night out. The Main reason why I purchased it is the color. The beautiful shade of green will easily work through all seasons. I’m already giddy to share with you how I’ll style it in the next few months for fall! For this look, I paired it with one of my favorite white tops, a printed belt and cut out booties.
As the warmer weather begins to creep up, the jacket-wearing becomes scarce and thick sweaters become non-existent. One of my favorite spring transition tops is a shell top. Why, you ask? It’s a great layering piece [as seen on me], and a shell top is conservative enough to wear by itself at the office on those hot and humid days. When shopping for a shell top, make sure that it’s fitted around your armpit – no need for bra exposure in the office. If the shell top does come lower under your arm, layer a lightweight cami under it. Since it’s not warm enough to wear the top by itself, I’ve layered the shell top over a bell sleeve blouse and paired it with wide leg pants.
I love a kelly green t-shirt with “Kiss me, I’m drunk-ish” written on it as much as the next guy; however, the days of disposable holiday tee’s are becoming a thing of the past for me. If you’re looking to spruce up your St. Patricks day outfit look no further because I’m giving you some alternate color combos to wear on this festive holiday.
If you own the color chartreuse [a lime greenish yellow color] and/or a dark green/teal, you’re in luck! The look I’ve put together for my stylish St. Patricks day outfit is an older H&M top and suede jacket. Pairing the top and jacket with distressed jeans and floral pumps makes the outfit stylish, festive and ready for spring. It’s pretty frigid here in Ohio, so I’m hoping I can pull this look off in a few days [please get warmer, please get warmer].
Don’t have those colors in your closet? No worries! Any shade of green could work for the day. You can also mix up how you wear the green – it doesn’t need to be a top or jacket, but instead jewelry, shoes, makeup or hair accessories.
Most of the time us ladies like to go straight to black or dark colors when choosing an outfit – it’s easy and almost always looks chic and put together. I’m here to give you some outfit color combination inspo. If you’ve never paired burgundy and red together, you definitely should. The two colors compliment each other so well. Don’t be afraid to go bright with the red because it makes the color combo that much better.
I styled one of my favorite red tops by layering it over a sleeveless shirt dress. I put a belt around my waist so that the blouse could fall correctly and in a flattering way. Brown boots were great to compliment the color combo, but black or tan would work great as well.
I’m over the snow and the cold that’s for sure. If there’s one thing I buy the most it’s probably shoes. I tend to drag my feet, walk through mud puddles and basically thrash my shoes, so I feel like every 3 or 4 years I need to sadly replace the ones I love.
Espadrilles are something I have my eye on for spring / summer because the pair I own is toast. Espadrille flats are perfect for every day and espadrille wedges are great for casual days or nights out. I’m on the prowl for some flats, but I’ve rounded up some AMAZING picks for you to browse yourself. Enjoy! *feature image via pinterest
Overalls are something I haven’t really considered adding to my wardrobe. Along with jumpsuits, it takes me forever to find the right one [since one piece items are not the most versatile]. When I came across these black denim overalls, I was a little skeptical thinking I might look ridiculous. Once I put them on they were so comfortable.
Some things to consider if you’re buying overalls:
— Do you want a lighter / medium denim? Great, go get ’em.
— If you’re worried about standard denim looking to casual, opt for a dark denim like gray or black.
— Worried about fit? There are all kinds of styles from skinny, boot cut, cropped, flared, shorts and loose boyfriend fit. No matter your body type, I’m sure you’ll be able to set your heart on one!
I styled my overalls with pumps, a military inspired cardigan, striped top and chic top knot. The pumps add an instant dressed up feel and the cardigan adds some contrast vs. wearing the overalls alone [which I’m probably going to ease into the more I wear them].
Who else has been loving the warm weather lately? I hope that groundhog was wrong because the days are getting longer and warmer and I want it to keep up. With transitioning seasons comes transition wardrobe pieces and outfits. I’ve rounded up some spring wardrobe essentials to keep you stylish as the weather gets warmer.
