It’s been a pretty amazing summer so far. Even though it’s not my favorite season of apparel, it’s a great time to wear and combine bright, bold colors. For all of the minimalists out there – I get it – you can never go wrong with classic black and white, gray, or even a subtle blush. Whether you have a minimalist style or not, summer is a great time to play around with adding color to your outfits. Wether it’s a bright pink earring with an all black look, or a combination of reds, yellows and teals, you won’t need to worry about being out of your comfort zone because there’s already color everywhere.
I was inspired by this post from an outfit I wore a few weeks back during pride weekend. I was so inspired by all the color and love that I combined some items/colors in my closet that I never would have thought to put together otherwise. I styled a pair of white shorts with a red top, yellow tassel earrings and teal slides.
I hope your next two days are full of sun, BBQs, fireworks and some shopping. Fourth of July is a great time to get discounts on in-season items. I’ve rounded up some awesome sale items for you from tops, dresses, shoes and handbags.
Summer is always a tricky season for me because the layering options aren’t the best. You pretty much have your tops, bottoms and dresses. Sure, you can layer tanks etc., but when it starts to get really hot out your options become scarce. I typically don’t invest too much in my summer wardrobe, but each summer I add a few new pieces and turn to retailers that have cute clothes for a good price. What can you get for under $100? Well, I’ll tell you:
Don’t only purchase rompers or dresses – separates are always more versatile and you can mix and match them with items you already own.
Lightweight fabric shorts – they’re comfortable and keep you cool
Lightweight fabric tee – something you can dress up or down
Go-to summer dress – wrap dresses are my favorite style because they flatter pretty much every body type.
Go-to accessory – add a new jewelry piece or purse to your wardrobe to wear on rotation frequently.
I chose a few pieces from Abercrombie & Fitch for my wardrobe refresh because their sales are on point. I was able to get shorts, a tee, dress and bracelet all for under $100.
Piping on clothing has been on trend for some time now and I hope it doesn’t go away any time soon [let’s be honest if it does I’m still rocking it]. From pajama-style tops, pants, shorts and outerwear, piping on clothing adds sophistication to any look. I got this top from Express [similar here] in December and I’ve probably worn it twenty times already. For this look, I styled the top with a pair of C/MEO Collective shorts that also have piping on them. If you don’t have this style in your wardrobe, you should. It’s the perfect style to make you look sleek and trendy – especially on those “I have nothing to wear” days.
Festival season is around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited! No matter your festival style whether it be flower crowns, gold body art or shorts that show a lot of butt cheek, there’s nothing better than sun on your face and music in your ears! I’m excited to be partnering with Fabrik, Anthropologie and Promowest Productions to style some festival looks and host a giveaway for a pair of VIP Bunbury Music Festival Tickets + a $150 Easton shopping spree. Head over to my Instagram this Friday 5/5 to enter!
When I think of festival style, I think of print/fabric mixing, quirky accessories and bold sunglasses. Take a look at the outfits I styled below and shop the looks.
Minimalist, prep, tomboy, Parisian chic – there are so many styles out there that I love seeing women share. Now that summer is around the corner, one style I like to see the most is eclectic style. Mixed prints, bright colors and bohemian accessories all compiled into one show stopping outfit. The best way to create an eclectic look is to put together items in your wardrobe you wouldn’t think to combine – don’t be afraid to take risks! I’ve styled one of my favorite printed skirts with a bright top, olive bomber and my favorite Who What Wear snake print sandals.
As the days get warmer, the options for outfit combinations becomes scarce. Luckily, the ability to layer isn’t only for the colder months. A sleeveless shirt dress is the perfect style to invest in this season because it can be worn so many ways. I’ve styled it as a vest over a white cami dress. The dress allows the outfit to be work appropriate all while adding some interest from the not-so-work-friendly dress under. Styling it with bright shoes and a scarf as a belt completed the look.
Embroidery and ruffles are all the craze right now. From shoes, handbags, tops and denim – you’ll see it everywhere this season. Luckily with fashion, history has a tendency to repeat itself, so naturally I already own an embroidered bag I picked up a few years ago from a local thrift store. I styled the bag with a pair of my favorite boyfriend denim shorts from Abercrombie [P.S. ladies who have a little more of a romp – boyfriend jeans are your BFF this summer]. The short style is comfortable, does not ride up when you walk, and are the perfect amount of loose. The bright ruffle blouse completed the look.
I’m over the snow and the cold that’s for sure. If there’s one thing I buy the most it’s probably shoes. I tend to drag my feet, walk through mud puddles and basically thrash my shoes, so I feel like every 3 or 4 years I need to sadly replace the ones I love.
Espadrilles are something I have my eye on for spring / summer because the pair I own is toast. Espadrille flats are perfect for every day and espadrille wedges are great for casual days or nights out. I’m on the prowl for some flats, but I’ve rounded up some AMAZING picks for you to browse yourself. Enjoy! *feature image via pinterest
