Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a good weekend ahead of them. Todays post is inspired by a top I recently purchased from local boutique Clover on High. I walk to work and pass the boutique’s storefront pretty much everyday. I typically do pretty good on the will power to not go in and impulse buy, but recently there was a top in the window display that I immediately fell in love with. The color, pattern, fit and style were all too good to pass up. I knew that I could make some room in my budget for one thing, so I went ahead and got it and couldn’t be happier. This will definitely be one of those tops that I keep for years. In this post I’ve styled the top with denim shorts for a casual summer look. I’m excited to share how I style it for the workplace and a weekend out look.
Budget, fit, fabric quality, re-wear, truly loving, and actually needing a piece of clothing are some of the main factors that get me to buy. What are your rules you set for yourself when shopping? I’d love to hear them!
Wedding season doesn’t mean just being a guest. If in a bridal party, there are other kinds of events you need to attend. I’ve already attended two this summer and needless to say I’ve had to get a little creative with the outfits. Today I’m talking about different styling tips to make the same piece of clothing not seem so much like a repeat:
Wear your hair differently
For the looks I styled, I wore one with my hair in a high bun and the other with it down
Choose different accessories
Different jewelry, shoes and handbags can make all the difference
Switch up your makeup
A bold lip can refresh your re-worn piece
Style the piece in a different way
For the top I styled I switched the tie in front to the back, and bunched up the long sleeves to be faux short sleeves
Style it with a different pairing
All too often I see repeated outfits with the same top/bottom combo. Switch up your combos by pairing the piece with a different style top or bottom. For my look I paired the top with a mini skirt and then a midi skirt. I can’t wait to style the top with a wide leg pant, too!
Rompers – some people love them, some people not so much. For those of you that love them, rompers can be a great piece to invest in if you don’t want to spend the time combining different pieces to create an outfit. If you’re one of those people who have multiple rompers in your closet, a romper with a bright floral print is a great pick for summer. I love this romper from local boutique Jolie Ocassions because its base is a beautiful yellow that is bright for summer but can easily transition into fall. The floral print adds a playfulness to it and the bell sleeves seal the deal. I styled the romper with a pair of printed pumps [because we all know how much I love print mixing]. What romper styles do you have in your closet?
For all of you wondering – yes, crop tops are still in. You may have thought they have been replaced by the trending bodysuit, but crop tops [at least in my opinion] are still a great piece to keep in your wardrobe. I love this crop top from AE [now only $15!] because of the ribbed texture [keeps it more formal], the off the shoulder style, and especially the tie detail with the open back.
Dresses aren’t something I own a lot of – so when I purchase one I make sure it’s pretty versatile. A midi tank dress is perfect for summer because you can dress it up or down. You can also layer it with a blouse to act as a faux midi skirt for the office. I’m excited to wear this dress through the rest of summer and well into fall.
I styled this midi tank dress from local boutique Vernacular with my favorite basket weave purse [worn as a clutch], bright flats and eclectic jewelry.
·Keep your shoe simple with a loafer, sleek flat or low-heel pump
·A low bun looks great on almost everyone, and makes any look more polished
·Stud earrings and a watch are all you need to dress it up
For my athleisure work place look, I styled two amazing pieces from a brand I discovered called VAEWARD. The top is a muscle tee style with soft knit fabric and the track pants have a waffle knit pattern and are also super soft. The black piping on the pieces ties them together. Black loafers and simple jewelry complete the look.
Today I’m bringing some outfit inspo for all those date nights coming up. Sometimes date nights are great – you get dressed up, you do your hair, you feel fly. Other times, date nights consist of more casual attire where you don’t have to get so dolled up. No matter how fancy or casual your date night is, there is always one piece that can turn up the heat for any outfit. Whether it’s a fitted dress or jeans and a top, the item any date night outfit needs is a great jewelry piece (or pieces). Earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces – all jewelry styles can instantly dress up your look.
I came across the site Juwelo and fell in love with their jewelry selection. The detail and craft work around their gemstone jewelry colors, sizes and shapes makes you feel like you’re dripping in luxury no matter your price point.
For my date night outfit, I styled a leather mini skirt with a crop top and sandals. I put my hair up in a sultry ponytail which is perfect for those humid summer nights. The pair of earrings I’m wearing polished off the dressy feel I was going for.
It’s been a pretty amazing summer so far. Even though it’s not my favorite season of apparel, it’s a great time to wear and combine bright, bold colors. For all of the minimalists out there – I get it – you can never go wrong with classic black and white, gray, or even a subtle blush. Whether you have a minimalist style or not, summer is a great time to play around with adding color to your outfits. Wether it’s a bright pink earring with an all black look, or a combination of reds, yellows and teals, you won’t need to worry about being out of your comfort zone because there’s already color everywhere.
I was inspired by this post from an outfit I wore a few weeks back during pride weekend. I was so inspired by all the color and love that I combined some items/colors in my closet that I never would have thought to put together otherwise. I styled a pair of white shorts with a red top, yellow tassel earrings and teal slides.
I hope your next two days are full of sun, BBQs, fireworks and some shopping. Fourth of July is a great time to get discounts on in-season items. I’ve rounded up some awesome sale items for you from tops, dresses, shoes and handbags.
