We all know about the little black dress – but having a closet staple based on color isn’t the only thing you need to focus on. Sometimes the style of the dress plays a bigger role than the color. For instance – the shift dress. I love the shift dress because of the different ways you can style it. Leave the dress loose, belt it, or wear it as a tunic over a wide leg pant – the options are endless. I bought this shift dress from Mango a few months ago. The not so typical polka dot print and color is what captured my eye at first but then the numbers of ways I could style it made me want the dress eve more.
For this summer look, I styled the dress in a flirty way by adding a belt to shorten the length. Adding these oh so comfy wedges and a bright lip completed the look.
My birthday is in December, and holiday dresses are already flying off the shelves. I can’t wait until I get my NYE dress in the mail (it’s already sold out – yikes) but I hope it works out so I can share it with you all!
I’ve rounded up some holiday dress styles to get you started on your browsing. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday around the corner you can reap the benefits of some great sales for these dresses as well. [feature image via Revolve]
Here in Ohio the heat and humidity is all kinds of intense. Since I walk to work, I’m always trying to wear outfits that are airy so I’m not drenched in sweat by the time I get to the office. I own this amazing white cami dress from ASOS that I purchased for NYE a few years ago but unfortunately it’s a little too riskay around the neckline and not very office friendly. One morning I quickly threw a chiffon button down from H&M over the dress and tied it at the waist and thought to myself “hm, this could work.” I wasn’t a fan of the tied waist so instead I added an ASOS waist belt to give the outfit the illusion of a shirt and skirt.

For the passed two years I’ve been involved in a great initiative that goes on in Columbus – Fashion for Philanthropy. This is an event where local shops donate clothing to be featured in a pop up shop and sold at up to 80% off! Not only do locals get amazing deals on designer pieces, but part of the proceeds benefit Dress for Success.
The floral maxi dress I’m wearing is one of the pieces from the sale I styled and posted on my social media accounts to promote the event. I love when I can combine my love of fashion with a great cause!
I love a great all black look. Typically when I style an outfit this way, I incorporate different materials and textures. In this case, I styled my go to LBD slip dress with my favorite leather jacket. A waist belt with zipper detail and leopard booties tied everything together.
