I can’t believe how warm it is still. I’m not going to lie, I’m definitely going to soak it up before it drops into the 60s next week. With 60 degree weather comes the need for warm shoes [i.e. booties]. We all know the trends this season are metallics, funky velvet floral/baroque prints and kitten heels. Well, I like to dress to the beat of my own drum and I am personally swooning over the color olive right now – it’s like the new black. While everyone was in a tizzy about the Nordstrom anniversary sale I was able to score these olive green booties from Lord & Taylor for only $53! These Marc Fisher booties were all the rage last season and for some reason I’m just now starting to really be into them. I love the minimalist/western/casual chic vibe of the shoe. I styled the booties with a wrap dress, linen jacket and snake print belt.
What bootie style are you most excited to wear this season?
Ohio weather is odd…we have maybe a week or two of mildly cool, but still sunny and warm weather before it gets to temps that require way more layers. Those two weeks in my book are glorious because it’s my favorite type of weather. You know, the weather when you can wear a light jacket and not be cold, or mix and match mini skirts with booties without freezing your tush off? I love that small window of straight up summer to fall transition, and today I’m going to share a wardrobe piece that is perfect for that type of weather [and can even be taken into snowfall weather].
As some of you may have guessed, yes, it’s the shirt jacket. No, not a jacket, not a shirt, but a hybrid of the two. A few months ago I ordered one from Mango, but unfortunately the fit was too short and boxy. I’ve been following the Who What Wear ladies since 2007 when I was in college, and needless to say they have really made waves with their business and the new Who What Wear x Target line. Putting the shirt jacket out of my mind for awhile, it’s like they read my mind when they came out with their fall collection. The second I saw this olive green beauty on their Insta I knew I had to try it on. Needless to say, it fit perfectly as a shirt and a jacket. The piece is also around $40 and I mean ya can’t beat that.
For the summer inspired look, I styled the piece as a jacket with some denim shorts, a tank, bright flats and mirrored sunglasses. For the fall inspired look, I styled it as a shirt tucked into a leather mini with neutral booties and fun accessories. Shirt jackets can be tricky when it comes to having a flattering fit, so try on different styles/colors/fabrics and see what works best for you. Either way you’ll be satisfied with this versatile piece in your wardrobe!
